A rapid tournament fits into a single afternoon, which is why so much competitive chess in and around Tbilisi is played at this pace. Georgian Tactics has run numbered rapid tournaments in the city since May 2026, with new numbers appearing on the tournament server several times a month, often next to a blitz event of the same series.
The Jemur Sulukhia memorial is a one-day rapid tournament held in September, listed in Tbilisi in two consecutive years. In Rustavi, the Kvemo Kartli championship for players under eight, ten, twelve and fourteen is played at rapid pace over two days in spring by the regional federation.
